About the role

Reporting to Depot Supervisor, you will complete the de-bagging and de-vanning of bulk bags and assist with maintenance of the Import Store equipment, yard and facilities in a prompt and efficient manner, thereby assisting the Wellington Depot reach its performance targets and objectives.


Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the Depot Supervisor on issues of depot operation performance.
  • Compiling monthly reports and ad hoc queries and reports as required.
  • Fully utilising system tools to ensure timely and effective reporting to the business.
  • Accurate stock control by the recording of bag and pallet dispatch details
  • Working with the Depot Supervisor to implement the general operations of the Depot.
  • Determining and planning the volume of bagged cement required for the day.
  • Assisting the Depot Supervisor in assigning duties to other store staff such as forklift operation, stacking cement bags and general yard duties.
  • Ensure depot and yard appearance are maintained to a high standard including sweeping, washing etc.
  • Transferring cement from silos to bagging operation;
  • Operating bagging plant and stacking cement bags;
  • Loading and unloading trucks carrying bagged and bulk bagged cement;
  • Unloading bulk bags (FIBC) of cement into the de-bagger equipment;
  • Baling empty bags using the baler machine and loading bales into rubbish skip;
  • Operating sweeper equipment to minimise the dust in the environment;
  • Coordinating activity and operating fixed and mobile bulk bag de-bagger equipment;
  • Preparing silos for ships discharge;
  • Notifying the Depot Supervisor of any issues or problems with equipment and actioning maintenance requests.
  • Working closely with outside contractors (e.g. engineers, electricians) which requires good communication and people skills (relationship management).

  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Passion for safety - previous employment in a zero harm environment
  • Experience in a similar industry
